Terms of service

1. Who we are

Nihao School is a Mandarin pronunciation app operated by Pogorelskikh Kseniia, a private individual based in Paraćin, Serbia. In these terms, "we" and "us" mean that operator, and "you" means the person using Nihao School.

2. The service

Learn Mandarin Chinese pronunciation through listening, speaking and tone practice. Review tone contrasts, track your progress and download lessons for offline use.

The full 30-lesson course is in development. The beta is free. See Membership for current availability and planned prices.

3. Your account

Sign-in is passwordless: we email you a one-time code. Keep access to that email address secure, because anyone with the code can sign in. You must be 18 or older to use Nihao School. An account is for one person; do not share it.

4. Free lessons

At launch, lessons 1–10 will be free, with no payment details required.

5. Membership and billing

At launch, lessons 11–30 will need an active membership. Memberships will be sold through Paddle, which acts as the merchant of record for the sale: Paddle takes the payment, issues the receipt and handles applicable taxes. Paddle's checkout terms apply to the payment. We never receive your card details.

The price, billing period and renewal terms are shown at checkout before you pay. A membership renews automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel it.

6. Cancellation and refunds

You can cancel before the renewal date by emailing sekih0907@gmail.com from the account email address and asking us to cancel the Paddle subscription. Cancellation stops future charges; you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.

Our Refund and cancellation policy explains how refunds work and the refund window (14 calendar days from the date of each payment). Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under mandatory consumer law.

7. Acceptable use

Use Nihao School for your own learning. Do not resell access to Nihao School, share an account, bypass the paid-lesson gate, or interfere with the service or other learners' use of it.

8. Lesson content and credits

Lessons use recordings from human and synthetic voices. Synthetic voices are labelled in the app. Licence details and attribution for the recordings are on the Credits page.

9. Availability and changes

We work to keep Nihao School available, but maintenance and outages can interrupt it. We may update lessons and features over time.

10. Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time in Profile; this deletes your account and practice data. We may suspend or end access if these terms are seriously broken or if we must for legal reasons.

11. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. The version that applies is the one published on this page, with the date shown at the top. If a change is material, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
